At ScienceSouth

The 5000 square foot ScienceSouth Pavilion is located on 35 acres along Jeffries Creek at Freedom Florence. Through a partnership and long-term lease with the City of Florence, this facility offers the best in hands-on science education in the Pee Dee. The Pavilion offers families the opportunity to do real science in our minds-on, hands-on workshops and surrounding environment. Parents and children can come work together in workshops the whole family can enjoy!

Programs offered at the ScienceSouth Pavilion include:

Spring Break Day Camps and Kids Summer Camps are super fun, and educational!
ScienceSaturdays are themed three hour workshops offered throughout the year!
STEAM Saturday is our NEW family workshop programming.  Join us for an morning of hands-on science fun!
Scout Programs that can be tailored towards their badges, patches or journeys!
Birthday Parties are the best!  You haven’t been to a birthday party until you’ve been to one at ScienceSouth!
Homeschool Science Academy is offered throughout the month on Fridays for various age groups.
Mommy and Me programming offers hands-on learning time with your scientist in training.
Kid’s Night Out events are themed two and half hour workshops offered throughout the year on Friday nights…dinner included!
Field Trips at ScienceSouth are never ordinary!


The Pavilion is also the base for ScienceSouth’s growing outreach program, which includes the McLeod Health Mobile Lab and the Senator Hugh K. Leatherman Mobile Lab.
