Homeschool Science Academy

Looking for new and innovative ways to teach your K-12 student science? Well look no further than ScienceSouth’s Homeschool Science Academy! We have a range of programs that are sure to meet you and your student’s needs.

Grade K-8 Programs
The 2016-2017 school year will feature our K-8 programming divided into three grade level sections. By doing this we hope to engage students in meaningful learning experiences reflective of their grade level. Our Homeschool sessions run on the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Friday of each month from 9:00 am to 11:00 am, unless otherwise noted (i.e. holidays, etc). The cost is $12/child for two hours of workshops.

Homeschool Schedule by Grade Level
All K-8 Homeschool Science Academy sessions will run from 9:00-11:00 am.

Grade K-2: Every 1st Friday
Grade 3-5:
Every 2nd Friday
Grade 6-8:
Every 3rd Friday

Registration and Payment
There must be 10 students registered and paid by the session’s deadline for any HSA: K-8 session to be held. ScienceSouth asks that parents/guardians register and pay for their child’s workshop session by NOON on the Friday before the workshop. Any session that fails to meet the attendance requirement will be cancelled; registered students will be notified and refunded. You may contact Casey Coker at 843-679-5353 ext. 309 or at to make payment arrangements if you elect not to pay online.

All payments are non-refundable and may not be transferred to another workshop. Therefore, please take this into consideration when registering for a workshop. Refunds will be issued to paid registrants in the event of cancellations due to failed attendance requirements or inclement weather.

Grade 9-12 Programs

The tentative labs for the 2016-2017 season are: Anatomy and Physiology, Biology, Chemistry, and Physical Science.

ScienceSouth will only hold these labs if there are 10 students registered and paid by NOON on the session’s deadline date. Please note, that if a lab fails to meet attendance requirements after two sessions, the lab will be cancelled for the remainder of the year. Students must have taken Biology before registering for the Anatomy and Physiology labs.

ScienceSouth will no longer follow the Apologia curriculum. Instead the labs will be comprised of topics and experiments suited to prepare students for science at the collegiate level.

All labs will take place on the last Friday of the month from August 2016 to May 2017, unless there is a conflict (i.e. holiday or inclement weather. The Biology and Chemistry labs will run from 9:00-11:00 am and the Anatomy and Physiology and Physical Science labs will run from 1:00-3:00 pm.

All high school lab sessions are $250 for the 10 labs or $25 per lab
. There is an additional lab fee of $30 for Anatomy and Physiology. This fee can be split if students decide to work in pairs. ScienceSouth will continue to offer a discount ($5 off second lab) to families registering more than one child for high school labs. If you have issues with paying online, please contact Casey Coker at 843-679-5353 ext. 309 to discuss payment arrangements.

All payments are non-refundable and may not be transferred to another lab session. Therefore, please take this into consideration when registering for a workshop. Paid registrants will be given refunds if their session is cancelled due to low registrations.

The labs are not graded. Students will not receive a grade for their work. If a lab grade is required, we can assign a grade based on attendance and completion of the work.
