Homeschool Science Academy

Looking for new and innovative ways to teach science to your K-12 student? Well look no further than ScienceSouth’s Homeschool Science Academy! We have a range of programs that are sure to meet you and your student’s needs.

Grade K-8 Programs
For Fall 2017, our K-8 programming divided into three grade level sections. By doing this we hope to engage students in meaningful learning experiences reflective of their grade level. Our Homeschool sessions run on the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Friday of each month from 9:00 am to 11:00 am, unless otherwise noted (i.e. holidays, etc). The cost is $12/child for two hours of workshops.

Homeschool Schedule by Grade Level
All K-8 Homeschool Science Academy sessions will run from 9:00-11:00 am.

Grade K-2: Every 1st Friday
Grade 3-5:
Every 2nd Friday
Grade 6-8:
Every 3rd Friday

Registration and Payment
There must be 10 students registered and paid by the session’s deadline for any HSA: K-8 session to be held. ScienceSouth asks that parents/guardians register and pay for their child’s workshop session by NOON on the Friday before the workshop. Any session that fails to meet the attendance requirement will be cancelled; registered students will be notified and refunded. You may contact Casey Coker at 843-679-5353 ext. 309 or at to make payment arrangements if you elect not to pay online.

All payments are non-refundable and may not be transferred to another workshop. Therefore, please take this into consideration when registering for a workshop. Refunds will be issued to paid registrants in the event of cancellations due to failed attendance requirements or inclement weather.

Grade 9-12 Programs

ScienceSouth will not host high school labs for the Spring 2018 semester.  For tutoring options, please contact Casey Coker at or at 843-679-5353 ext. 309.

ScienceSouth will only hold these labs if there are 10 students registered and paid by NOON on the session’s deadline date.  The maximum number of participants for each lab is 16 and are filled on a first come, first serve basis.

ScienceSouth will no longer follow the Apologia curriculum. Instead the labs will be comprised of topics and experiments suited to prepare students for science at the collegiate level.

New to Fall 2017: Courses will be offered by semester instead of a year.  Therefore, all labs starting in August will be concluded by the middle of January 2018.  Labs will take place on various Wednesdays and Fridays of each month during the semester.  The Biology and Chemistry labs will run from 9:00-11:00 am and the Physical Science labs will run from 1:00-3:00 pm on the scheduled dates.

Packages and Pricing

Full Term Package:  This package includes ten (10) two-hour lab sessions.  The lab topics covered will be the same as in previous years except they’re completed in a shorter time frame.  The full term session topics and dates will be denoted on the finalized schedule.  The cost for this package is $250 per student ($25 per lab session).

Core Package:  This package includes five (5) two-hour lab sessions.  These labs are considered to be the most crucial to student learning.  This option is available for those who may not be able to accommodate the change from a year long course to a semester long course.  The Core session topics and dates will be denoted on the finalized schedule.  The cost for this package is $125 per student ($25 per lab session).

NOTE:  Regardless of the package chosen, 10 students must be registered and paid for a session to be held.  If you have issues with paying online, please contact Casey Coker at 843-679-5353 ext. 309 to discuss payment arrangements.

All payments are non-refundable and may not be transferred to another lab session. Therefore, please take this into consideration when registering for a workshop. Paid registrants will be given refunds if their session is cancelled due to low registrations.

The labs are not graded. Students will not receive a grade for their work. If a lab grade is required, we can assign a grade based on attendance and completion of the work.
