What does my child need to bring with them?

 

Your child should bring: Comfortable shoes, an extra sweater or jacket, sunscreen hat, mid-morning snack, packed lunch, a bag to put everything in, any medication, should be given to the group leader.

   

How many children generally attend each program?

 

Each Camp can accommodate up to 60 participants

   

My child needs to take medication. Who will dispense it?

 

Although our staff is trained in First Aid no member of ScienceSouth is permitted to administer medication. With a parent’s prior instruction we will, however, keep the medicine safely during the day returning it to the child when a dosage is due and supervise as they self-medicate.

   

What is the refund policy?

 

The registration price includes a non-refundable fee of $50. The rest of the cost will be refunded up to three weeks prior to the camp. If availability exists children may move to a different camp up to three weeks prior to the start of the first camp.

   

Who teaches the ScienceSouth Kids’ Summer Camp?

 

Camps are led by experienced educators and science professionals. Each leader is experienced in inquiry based learning techniques and has been selected for their ability to communicate their own enthusiasm in a range of scientific topics.

   

Will my child spend time outside?

 

The ScienceSouth at Jeffries Creek is lucky to have 75 acres of natural woodland and waterways and exploration or use of this space will be a part of the week. Your child will never leave the site however.

   

What is the staff to child ratio?

 

The average staff to child ratio is 1:7
