DNA Extraction

Using real lab tools, students will extract DNA from fruits and vegetables. They will discover and investigate the properties of the molecular structure of DNA.

Illuminate the science of electricity! Students will experiment with circuits, investigate energy transformations and discover the functions of different electrical components by making their own working circuits and fuses.

Micro-Aquaria: Life in Drops of Water!
Grade Level: 4-8 Duration: 45 minutes Capacity: 20
Students will delve into world of microorganisms. Students will use microscopes, staining and slide making techniques. They will examine various microbes, including daphnia, amoeba, protozoa, yeast and bacteria and discover their impacts on the environment and human health.

Sandlapper Sleuths
Grade Level: 4-8 Duration: 45 minutes Capacity: 20 Location: Mobile Lab
Students will investigate sand and its unique characteristics. Using microscopes, and micrometers, they will observe compare and contrast sand from different locations. They will learn about the processes that form sand and its landforms, dunes, beaches and sandbars.

Mad About Electronics
Grade Level: 9-12 Duration: 60 minutes Capacity: 20
Students will construct an electronic circuit using capacitors, resistors and more. They will learn to solder and construct their own working electronic device.

Electrophoresis Workshop
