SCIENCEPALOOZA Hits ScienceSouth
Posted Thursday, December 11, 2008
Florence, SC, December 3, 2008 - Who says fun and science don’t mix? Not the kids attending ScienceSouth’s first
SCIENCEPALOOZA on December 13, 2008. The event is for children ages 5-12 and will run from 10 am to 2 pm at
the ScienceSouth Pavilion at Freedom Florence.
“SCIENCEPALOOZA is four hours of fun and exciting hands-on winter themed science fun,” Pavilion Programming
Manager Brandi Daves said. “Parents can bring their children to SCIENCEPALOOZA for a fun and enriching day,
giving them a chance to do some Christmas shopping.”
On Saturday the ScienceSouth Pavilion will be transformed into a holiday science workshop. “We have an action-packed
day of activities planned for SCIENCEPALOOZA; making our own snow and snow globes, creating magnetic Christmas
lights, uncovering the mystery of the stolen Christmas Cookies and much more,” Daves said. The children will
also get to take home several of the items they made during the day.
The cost for attendance is $10, which includes pizza for lunch. Parents can call 843-679-5353 to register
their child for the event. Space is limited to 50 children. Registration for the event ends on Wednesday,
December 10, 2008 at 5:00 pm.
ScienceSouth’s mission is to advance scientific understanding and increase the competitiveness of future
generations. Currently ScienceSouth’s mobile lab programs are part of the curriculum in eight school districts
across the Pee Dee region. Also, every first Friday of the month is a Homeschool Friday at ScienceSouth.
The ScienceSouth Pavilion at Freedom Florence is open on Saturdays for hands-on family workshops as well as
birthday parties. Visit www.sciencesouth.org to find out how you can participate in “science you can get up
