ScienceSouth Offers Summer Science to Kids
Posted Friday, May 14, 2010
Florence, SC, May 14, 2010 -
ScienceSouth will kick the summer off with a bang with the start of its
annual science summer camps in June. Crazy Chemistry begins June 7 and is
one of the five science-themed camps slated to run at the ScienceSouth
Pavilion at Freedom Florence from June to the end of July.
New to this summer’s camp roster is the Junior Scientist camp. “Since
our very first camp, parents and kids alike have expressed an interest
in opening the camp to younger children,” Outreach and Delivery Coordinator
Erin Powers said. “This summer seemed like the perfect opportunity to debut
a camp targeted to a younger audience. While our other camps are for rising
fourth to eighth graders, Junior Scientist camp is for rising first through
third graders. We’ve had a great response for registration for this new camp.”
Forensic Frenzy, Biology 101 and Extreme Engineering round out the remaining camps.
All camps are $175.00 per child, which includes the cost of camp and a mid-morning
snack. Camp runs from 8:30 am to 1:30 pm, however, parents may drop off as early
as 8:00 am and pick up no later than 2:00 pm.
ScienceSouth is a nonprofit educational organization with the mission to advance
scientific understanding and increase the competitiveness of future generations
in all areas of science. For additional camp information visit www.sciencesouth.org or
