"Some people think that you can only do science in a laboratory and that's not the case. Investigating the soil under your feet and the birds in your backyard is science. "
The 5000 square foot ScienceSouth Pavilion is located on 35 acres along Jeffries Creek at Freedom Florence.
Through a partnership and long-term lease with the City of Florence, this facility offers the best in
hands-on science education in the Pee Dee. The Pavilion offers families the opportunity to do real
science in our minds-on, hands-on workshops and surrounding environment. Parents and children can come
work together in workshops the whole family can enjoy!
Programs offered at the Pavilion include:
• ScienceSaturdays: Themed workshops the first Saturday of each month.
• Birthday Parties like you’ve never seen before!
• Homeschool Science Academy.
• Field Trips
The Pavilion is also the base for ScienceSouth’s growing outreach program,
which includes the McLeod Health Mobile Lab and the Senator Hugh K. Leatherman Mobile Lab.
