"When ScienceSouth was created years ago, it adopted a very simple, but extraordinary mission—“inspire, educate, entertain.” These three words, as small as they are, represent an organization that is busting at the seams with interest, cooperation and success."

Activities To Try At Home

Make a Stretch-O-Meter!

Image Caption: Mimi Koehl

Mimi Koehl calls herself a nature mechanic. She is a biomechanist, which is someone who studies how living things work physically. In one of her studies she wondered how sea anemones could withstand high-powered waves. She had a question and set out to answer it, that is what science is all about. Read her story and then become a biomechanist yourself and make your own Stretch-O-Meter so you can measure the stretch factor of things in and around your home. Boys dont worry you can try this too!
